The world of meditation may seem foreign to many people. Those who are interested in trying meditation for the first time often start with guided meditation because it helps them achieve their goals with meditation. Finding an uninterrupted line of concentration is usually the ultimate goal of most meditators. It can be a hard task to complete for many beginners but with the help of guided meditation, the steps are easy to follow. Many experienced meditation experts still use guided meditation because they find it easier to achieve a meditating mind and more soothing to the ear.

Guided meditation is any type of meditation where the participant uses help to guide them through the meditation process. This help can include an audio or video tape with the voice of a meditator walking the participant through the process or another person present in the room reciting from a book or reciting a phrase. These phrases are usually motivational or instructional and the speaker uses a low and soothing voice. This allows the participant to relax and concentrate on clearing the mind. Many experienced meditators find that complete silence in the room can lead the mind to wander and a meditative state is harder to achieve. Through guided meditation, the brain stays focused on concentration and is more likely to achieve a meditative state.


The repeating of an inspiring word or phrase is often used in guided meditation. The repetition of this phrase can be used by the meditator to go into a deeper state of tranquility and concentration. Guided meditation can also help the participant to concentrate on uplifting thoughts which will keep him or her in a happy and motivational state of mind.


Guided meditation classes are also available and many people who are interested in releasing stress and making time for some peaceful relaxation often attend these classes. Those who start the meditation process through guided meditation are taught the proper procedures in meditation. The meditators who attend guided meditation classes or use guided meditation CDs are more focused on the goal of achieving a meditative mind and are educated on the process to reach that goal. The goal of most guided meditation classes is to get the students in touch with their mind, body and soul. If a meditative state is achieved, that goal is easily realized by the student and a healthier mind and body is achievable.

With the help of guided meditation, many people who never thought they would delve in the world of meditation are finding the exercises easier to perform. Guided meditation allows the participant to focus on his or her own meditation goals and the specific steps needed to reach these goals. With outside help from a person, CD or meditation instructor, many people find guided meditation an easy way to have a peaceful meditation session. Spiritual growth and a calmer mental state are accomplished. Many meditation participants have found more focus and a deeper meditative state with the help of guided meditation.
